Brilliant lens this is. Images are quite sharp even at 1.8, and boy-oh-boy from 2.8 and beyond it is a gem. What's more, the true ring-type Ultrasonic motor is very fast and accurate, as one should expect (yet sadly don't in the EF 50mm f/1.4). A must-have for portrait work as well as very nice to have in indoor sports photography when the light really isn't quite there for a 2.8 lens.
