Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AF

Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AF

This is the standard EF-S lens that comes packaged with the older Rebel DSLR's. I bought this lens after selling my IS version a while back so I could have the 18mm focal point and I bought it at none other than B&H's used department off of E 32nd and 9th in Manhattan.

The reason for this purchase (and yet another lens to lug around) is because the EF 28-135 on the 50D is still much more a telephoto lens due to Canon's crop sensor magnification of 1.6 which means it is the equivelant to 45-216mm. The 18-55 is a much better walk-around lens coming into the equivelant of about 29-88mm on a standard 35mm or full sized sensor camera such as the 5D.

I am hoping to buy the EF 16-32 f/2.8L in the near future and was puting off buying another EF-S lens because EF lenses are compatible with all modern 35mm film Canons and Canon DSLR's whereas the EF-S is only compatible on crop sensor bodies; however, at only 70 bucks and some change after NYC sales tax it is truely a lens to own for a lightweight walk-around lens and because of that I am satisfied.
